Kanye West Upsets NYFW Designers With His Yeezy Season Two Timeslot
Disrupting the fashion world in more ways than one.
When Kanye West announced on Saturday, in the midst of New York Fashion Week, that he would be showing Yeezy Season 2 on Wednesday, the second to last day of NYFW, most of the fashion world was thrilled. However Yeezy’s noon timeslot interferes with young designers Anne Bowen, and Naeem Khan; both of whom have had their shows scheduled far in advance.
Anne Bowen, who originally planned to present her new streetwear line Nomad VII at that time, has called the move "not ethical." The news came as a shock to Bowen, who spoke to Womens Wear Daily : “Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this. It’s like we are David and he is Goliath. We have put our heart and soul into our show, and should not be stepped on like this”. Consequently, Bowen has moved her show a day over, and is now presented Thursday September 17 at 12:30.
The CFDA has already reached out to Adidas’ PR team, but as of yet there is no comment. Till then, lets just sit back, analyze this Season 2 trailer, and see how it all pans out.
