Nick Catchdubs Announces More Smoke EP, Shares Video”For “Drop"
“It’s the only video you’ll see this year with a werewolf hitting the dougie!”
On October 9, Fools Gold head honcho (alongside A-Trak) and producer Nick Catchdubs will be revisiting his debut solo album, Smoke Machine, with a compilation of remixes from the project—plus a few b-sides that he assures are "banging"—called More Smoke.
To get fans in back into the mindset, today Catchdubs has dropped a video for Smoke Machine track "Drop," which he likens to "Beavis And Butthead Go To Hell." It opens casually, with Catchdubs and his collaborator, the Chicago rapper Show You Suck, chilling on the couch, but quickly spirals into something so trippy it has to be seen to be understood. So, brace yourself for strobes of all sorts, occasional pyrotechnics, and a werewolf hitting the dougie and then hit play above.
"I knew that for this video I wanted to make something that felt more like old Rob Zombie than standard party or performance shit," Catchdubs wrote, describing the video in an email to The FADER. "I hit up my dude Matt (STEAMCLAM) because he's good with greenscreen and a fellow oddball—that's his boxing Haman pen at the start of the video, it was just lying around. I showed him a bunch of references from old kitschy movies—the brothel scene in Beetlejuice, etc—and we came up with this 'Beavis And Butthead Go To Hell' kinda concept. It's the only video you'll see this year with a werewolf hitting the dougie!"
