The eccentric, Atlanta-based rap duo EarthGang is back with their fourth album, Strays With Rabies set to drop tomorrow via Empire Distribution. With Strays With Rabies, EarthGang takes an iconic Atlanta sound and dips it in acid, creating a cohesive project that is colorful, yet clever. Each song is dense—diving into heavy topics of race, religion, and self-evaluation—and built on a foundation mixed from the lush sounds of old school southern rap, airy—psychedelic even—instrumentals, and obscure, old–timey samples pulled from the depths of the internet.
“This project is a reflection of our journey as artists and our actual excursions across the map,” wrote Doc Doctur in an email to The FADER. Johnny Venus, the other half off EarthGang, has a similar response regarding the objective of the album: “It was created out of the necessity to champion freedom, liberation and the individual unique qualities which tie us all together on this planet,” he added.
