Hodgy Beats Airs Grievances With Tyler, The Creator
Update: In a post on Instagram, the two rappers seem to have made up.
Odd Future's Camp Flog Gnaw Festival took place over the weekend with performances from Snoop Dogg, A$AP Rocky, YG, and various members of Odd Future. But the event wasn't entirely a display of unity, as Hodgy Beats unleashed a series of tweets and Instagram comments criticizing Odd Future's figurehead, Tyler, the Creator. (The FADER reached out to representatives of both rappers for comment but did not hear back by time of publication.)
"Call me jealous," he wrote on Instagram. "Just don't call my phone. Tyler is a fraud. He turned his back on niggas that never crossed him and I'm not just speaking for myself only." "Niggas treat us like we're disposable," he added. "Where Earl go? I know he had no part in the carnival. Real recognize real. gone."
He echoed this tone on Twitter. "I feel good bc I stood up for the ones who are too afraid to say it but they feel that way," he noted. "Think about who built the name OF together as a unit. Now Think about who took the first initial shit on OF. If it wasn't for OF where would Tyler be?"
According to a reporter on assignment at the festival on behalf of The FADER, Hodgy Beats was told that his set time was over by a festival employee and he was visibly angry at the news. He then threatened over the mic to get that employee fired.
Tyler appeared to respond to Hodgy's criticisms obliquely during his performance in the 39th minute of his set. "Niggas got me fucked up," he declared. "I put too many niggas on. I helped too many of my motherfucking friends out. And niggas gonna come foul? And you know who the fuck I’m talking about, nigga. And yes, it's getting real. I love you though."
On social media, Tyler noted that his relationship with Earl Sweatshirt is "fine." He also tweeted "WOW, WHAT DID I DO," and "SUCH A BUM OUT MAN." But mostly he focused on the positive aspects of the festival. "The carnival was not gonna happen this year," he explained. "Back in May we were almost cancelled. Then almost 30k people came out WTF so crazy." "All the positive nature in the crowd last night was beautiful." Check out his tweets below.
