Ro James Searches For Faith On “New Religion”

“You know temptation gets the best of me.”

Ro James helped write Miguel's "Use Me," so it's not surprising that "New Religion" builds around a flat, methodical riff on an electric guitar. The song catalogs James' life as a lothario. She said you're kind of conceited, he sings. You can bet I've heard that before. Later he adds, you know temptation gets the best of me. D'Mile produced the track.

"The idea behind the song is that sex is easy," the singer/songwriter told The FADER by email. "With me being a scorpio, my sex drive is on 1000. But I'm hopeful that I will find someone to inspire me to change my ways."

Listen and check out James' current single, "Permission," below. That song explores similar themes—with your permission, tonight I want to be a little me on you—and incorporates a sample of Willie Hutch's "Brother's Gonna Work It Out," which also underpinned Jaheim's classic "Looking For Love."
