Machel Montano, Sean Paul, and Major Lazer all appear in the cheerful video for "One Wine," a bubbly love song they dropped earlier this year. The clip is directed by Che Kothari and Fraction Films (Charlie Sarsfield and Jordan Bond); it cobbles together live footage and shots of Diplo and co. dancing around backstage.
"'One Wine' is a very special track to me," Montano tells FADER in an email. "It represents a union of two sounds from the Caribbean, soca and dancehall, genres that have been evolving, expanding and blending even more in recent years. With the success of this song and others like Major Lazer's 'Lean On' and Justin Bieber's 'Sorry,' it's clear that the world continues to embrace and celebrate the current Caribbean music culture, which is a dream come true."
"Working with Machel on 'One Wine' was a natural thing," Paul adds. "He's the king of Soca and I'm a Dancehall ambassador. Major Lazer have a great understanding of both genres, so I'm really happy with how their interpretation turned out! We shot the video at London's Notting Hill Carnival so we could capture the Caribbean energy on the streets."
