This week, Adele dropped by The Late Late Show With James Corden and rapped Nicki Minaj's verse on Kanye West's “Monster” for their Carpool Karaoke segment. Nicki approved, the clip went viral as it was bound to, but something more unexpected happened: the original Kanye West song, featuring Minaj, Jay-Z, Bon Iver and Rick Ross, got a boost in sales, and is now resting at number 8 on the iTunes hip-hop chart, as spotted by Pigeons & Planes. Is Adele rap's new kingmaker? Is a diss track next? No one English singer/songwriter should have all that power.
