Jamie xx, Disclosure, And More Nominated For Electronic Music Awards
The genre will be celebrated April 23.
Last month, news broke that Paul Oakenfold was putting together an awards show specially for electronic music—a rebuke to a mainstream that still fails to acknowledge the extent of the genre's popularity. Today the Electronic Music Awards announced the nominees for Single/Album Of The Year, Best New Artist, Best DJ, and more. The single/album categories are dominated by acts with crossover pop hits, like Calvin Harris, Major Lazer, and The Chainsmokers. Jamie xx and Alina Baraz, who both received nominations for Album Of The Year, are outliers.
