Shia LaBeouf Is Occupying An Oxford Elevator For 24 Hours

Shia LaBeouf's most recent art installations have seen the actor sit through a mammoth movie marathon of his own cinematic works and descend on Liverpool to ask the general public to make his hotline bling. Now ahead of a scheduled talk at the Oxford Union, he and his collaborators, artists Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner, have occupied an elevator for 24 hours.

As with previous live art pieces presented by the collective, the public have the opportunity to interact with the trio throughout the duration of the occupation, which lasts from 9 a.m. GMT February 19 to 9 a.m. GMT February 20—this time by entering the elevator itself. Titled #ELEVATE, footage from both the elevator and the collective's 8 p.m. address to the Oxford Union debating chamber are being livestreamed via YouTube. The aim is to open up the talk to those not possessing an Oxford education, resulting in "an extended, expansive and egalitarian Oxford Union address" according to a statement from the artists themselves in a press release.
