Here's Why Kanye West Is So Mad At Producer Bob Ezrin
“Bob, never speak in public again.”
On Tuesday night, Kanye West wrote a series of tweets rebuking comments made by producer Bob Ezrin concerning West's contribution to music. He stated he was "tired of old people who have no connection with anything trying to comment on music," and promised free Yeezys to Ezrin's children to "make up for the embarrassment that you have caused your family!"
Ezrin, the man behind classic rock albums from Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, and Kiss, made the comments that riled West in a post for music analyst Bob Lefsetz's site Lefsetz Letter. The piece focused on West's "tasteless grandstanding," accusing the 21-time Grammy Award recipient of being "like that flasher who interrupts a critical game by running naked across the field," stating that: 'unlike other creators in his genre like Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie or even M.C. Hammer for that matter, it’s unlikely that we’ll be quoting too many of Kanye’s songs 20 years from now."
Kanye appeared particularly galled by Ezrin's claim that Macklemore was more musically significant than him, directly addressing the quote before adding "no offense to Macklemore, he's a nice human being!" Although the original site is currently down, the cached version of Ezrin's letter is available in full here.
Kanye fans have already made their feelings on Ezrin clear, duly editing his Wikipedia page to include his "ethering" and subsequent demise, noting "his family were given Yeezys by Kanye to celebrate their dad's death."
