Snootie Wild—the Memphis rapper who boasted get them bricks and wrap them tighter than burritos on his breakout hit "Yayo"—ups his game by channeling the legendary drug lord and folk legend Pablo Escobar on "El Pablo," his first new track since the release of his 2015 mixtape Ain't No Stopping Me.
"Despite the evil Pablo Escobar is known for, what I noticed in my research of him is the genuine passion he had for his people and community because Colombia was so poor," Snootie explained in an email to The FADER. "From his businesses to his political endeavors, part of his motivation came from a place of wanting to raise up his people. I connect to that. That's me. Everything I do in music is for my people, my city, Memphis."
I'm feeling like Escobar, I'm feeling like El Pablo!.
