“You just record so many songs and leave them like little orphans out there.”

“This year I want ten No. 1 singles,” Young Thug tells Lyor Cohen in a new clip from CNBC’s Follow the Leader. The show recently decided to spend some time with Cohen and observe the legendary executive at work.

In a brief excerpt from the episode, Cohen suggests Thug needs to put more care into his tracks. “Ten? If you don’t freestyle, and you actually work on the singles and record great choruses and develop your songs... You just record so many songs and leave them like little orphans out there. You have to come back to them.” Thug politely disagrees, noting “the critics come back to them!”

Thug is famous for working at breakneck speed. “I think I can do a perfect song in ten minutes,” he told Dazed last year. “I did ‘Danny Glover’ in eight minutes. ‘Stoner’ took me almost an hour.”
