Prince Sales Continue To Soar In The Wake Of His Death
The star has sold more than three million songs and albums in recent days.
Yesterday Billboard reported that eight of Prince's full-lengths cracked this week's albums chart. Three of these were in the top ten: The Very Best Of Prince (No. 1), Purple Rain (No. 2), and The Hits/The B-Sides (No. 6). In addition, six Prince songs also cracked the Hot 100, including four inside the top 30: "Purple Rain" (No. 17), "When Doves Cry" (No. 20), "Kiss" (No. 28), and "Little Red Corvette" (No. 29).
Billboard also shared some stunning sales statistics about the numbers behind the chart. In the three days following Prince's death, the star sold 398,000 albums in total and 1.782 million songs. In the period from April 15 to April 24, Prince shifted 654,000 albums and 2.82 million tracks.
On top of that, Comedy Central reports that Dave Chappelle's famous Prince skit has been viewed 600,000 times since his death.
