According to an interview that preceded 25's release last year, "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" was originally slated to be the lead single from Adele's album. The song has plenty of things going for it: It's the most upbeat track on the record, and it features production from two pop radio savants, Max Martin and Shellback.
But the singer changed her mind and went with "Hello" instead. "I didn’t want it to be misleading what my first single was," she told Zane Lowe. And "Hello" was certainly a wise choice: the tune spent ten weeks at No. 1, eventually losing the top spot to Justin Bieber's "Sorry."
Now it's time for "Send My Love:" the singer announced today that the song will be 25's next single, and she'll be sharing a video for the track May 22. According to Spin, she promised that her new visual will show a different side of her artistry as well: "You'll not believe it," she reportedly told a crowd in Stockholm, "but I’m DANCING in [the video]... Lost all of my inhibitions. It was actually really fun."
In the teaser for the clip, Adele remains stationary. Watch above, and look for the full video next Sunday.
