Live Nation Postpones Or Cancels 6 Shows After Shooting At Irving Plaza
The concert promotion company cancelled or postponed performances from YG, Mac Miller, and Vince Staples.
Following a shooting that left one dead and three injured prior to a T.I. performance at New York City's Irving Plaza, Live Nation has postponed or cancelled six different shows, Rolling Stone reports.
Joey Bada$$, who was scheduled to play at Irving Plaza on Thursday night, tweeted today that the NYPD had cancelled his show, before quickly deleting the tweet and offering clarification. Other acts affected by the postponements and cancellations include YG, Mac Miller, Vince Staples, and bands Black Pistol and Appetite For Destruction. The six shows were scheduled equally between Irving Plaza and Gramercy Theater.
A representative for Irving Plaza and the Gramercy Theater told Rolling Stone that the venue was coordinating with the NYPD to ensure safety at the venues.
"In light of last week's tragic event, we are acting with an overabundance of caution and coordinating a going forward strategy with the New York Police Department that may also include a curfew," the spokesperson told Rolling Stone. "Because these discussions with New York Police Department are ongoing, we will be postponing a few of our upcoming shows."
Police Officer Sophia Mason told The FADER earlier, "The organization’s decision to cancel the event was in no way influenced by the NYPD." A representative for NYPD was not immediately available for further comment.
“We are a rock duo from Texas who just want to play and have a good time," Canadian rock duo Black Pistol, who were scheduled to perform at the Gramercy Theater on Saturday, wrote to The FADER. "We love the Gramercy but are happy to play anywhere and look forward to having our fans come out this Saturday night to Saint Vitus in Brooklyn."
A member of Appetite For Destruction emailed The FADER and said, "It's an unfortunate situation, but we're looking forward to making it up to our amazing fans on the rescheduled date of Friday, August 12th at Gramercy."
Representatives for YG, Mac Miller, and Joey Bada$$ declined to comment. A representative for Vince Staples was not immediately available to comment on this story.
