Zara Has Allegedly Ripped Off Another 30 Indie Designers
In addition to artist Tuesday Bassen.
Last week, independent artist Tuesday Bassen alleged that Zara had ripped of multiple pin and patch designs directly from her work. While we weren't exactly shocked, it now appears that this practice might be part of a larger pattern. Today, fellow designer Adam J. Kurtz documented 42 cases of design theft by the fast-fashion giant on Twitter.
Tuesday Bassen has reposted Kurtz's findings, and is understandably outraged, writing in an Instagram caption: "Wow. It's so much worse than we thought. @Zara stole six designs from me and 34+ from SO MANY OTHER DESIGNERS...I want to make note that Zara has blocked @-mentioning ShopArtTheft because they don't want people to know THE VOLUME of their theft and plagiarism." Both Bassen and Kurtz's work is available at shoparttheft.com.
The FADER has reached out to Zara and will update with their comments.
