On Friday afternoon, Wiz Khalifa and French Montana announced on social media that Max B, the beloved Harlem rapper who was previously serving a 75-year sentence on multiple felony counts, was being released from prison early.
The news was confirmed in a statement from Max B, in which the rapper thanked his new legal team, his mother, and "all my fans that been holding it down for me all these years, still banging my music and still keeping it wavy." The statement also clarified that Max B had plead guilty to aggravated manslaughter (all other charges have been dropped).
Obviously, the internet - where The Wave's music, personality, and iconic laugh have lived on since his incarceration - was thrilled at the news. Fans have been posting classic interview clips, memes, and words of celebration.
