President Obama Congratulates Bob Dylan On Nobel Prize Win
“Congratulations to one of my favorite poets.”
On Thursday, Bob Dylan became the first musician to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. President Obama presented the honor to Dylan during a ceremony at the White House. Dylan beat out authors Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o, Haruki Murakami, and Don DeLillo to win the prize. The Nobel Committee awarded Dylan the prize “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.”
President Obama took to Twitter after the ceremony to congratulate Dylan on winning the award, calling Dylan, "One of my favorite poets."
