A jury today on Wednesday in favor of Knicks star Derrick Rose and his friends, Randall Hampton and Ryan Allen, in the civil suit brought against them by a woman who accused them of raping her in 2013.
The high-profile, $21.5 million suit stems from a incident in Los Angeles, during which the plaintiff says she was intoxicated and possibly unconscious, and thus was engaged in group sex with the three men without her consent. Prior to the incident, Rose had had a two-year, non-exclusive relationship with the woman.
In a statement released to the Associated Press following the verdict, Rose stated: "I am thankful that the jury understood and agreed with me," the statement said. "This experience and my sensitivity to it was deep. I am ready to put this behind me and focus on my family and career."
The New York Times reports that the LAPD has begun a criminal investigation into the events.
Rose was heavily criticized on social media after the verdict for posing for smiling pictures with some of the trial's jurors.
