U.K. Singer Léks Rivers Digs His Own Grave In This Dramatic New Video

West Londoner Léks Rivers is a songwriter seeking freedom. Léks (it's pronounced "Lakes") makes soul music with a dark side, none more evident than on the dramatic "No Rest For The Wicked." The Rick Stanton-directed video for the song can be seen above and shows Léks literally digging a grave for himself as he buries the past and moves on with his life.
Speaking to The FADER over email, Léks says "No Rest For The Wicked" is a song about self-reflection and unearthing suppressed beliefs from your younger years. "I look at it as an allegory for PTSD, which I think, in a way, many young men in the ends suffer from when growing up around gang culture and constant peer pressure.
"The video is a kind of dark satirical commentary on how we reinvent ourselves constantly, always killing off old versions of ourselves to grow and improve, or maybe just to forget, but ultimately, hopefully, to find our path."
Léks is signed to Black Butter Records and will release his debut EP, Badlands, on December 2. Check out the "No Rest For The Wicked" video above.
