The Hamilton Mixtape Bows At No. 1 On The Billboard 200 Chart

And Childish Gambino earns his highest charting album yet, with Awaken, My Love! coming in at No. 5.

This past week, The Hamilton Mixtape shot to the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart, earning 187,000 equivalent album units. According to the Billboard report, 169,000 of the units earned were in traditional album sales. The project curated by Hamilton writer Lin-Manuel Miranda and Questlove is composed of covers from the Tony award winning musical and original songs inspired by the show. The mixtape is a star-studded one, including contributions from Chance The Rapper, Busta Rhymes, Sia and more.

Further down the chart, The Weeknd's third studio album Starboy slips one rank to the No. 2 slot in its second chart week. Childish Gambino's third studio album Awaken, My Love! debuted at No. 5 with 101,000 units in its first week, making it his highest charting album yet. His previous full-length from 2014 Because the Internet debuted and peaked at No. 7.
