Tupac Will Be Officially Inducted Into The 2017 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
He joins fellow new inductees Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, ELO, and more.
Tupac will be formally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame next year, organizers have confirmed. The late rapper will be inducted alongside fellow 2017 newcomers Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Journey, Electric Light Orchestra, and Yes. Tupac was in the running in his first year of eligibility, having released his debut album 2Pacalypse Now 25 years ago.
Nominated artists who missed out on a 2017 induction include Depeche Mode, Janet Jackson, Bad Brains, Kraftwerk, Jane’s Addiction, MC5, Chaka Khan, the Zombies, and the Cars. Chic also missed out, but Nile Rodgers will be awarded a solo Musical Excellence Award on the night.
The 2017 induction ceremony will take place on April 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. An edited version will later air on HBO and there will be a radio broadcast on SiriusXM.
N.W.A. were among the acts inducted into the Hall of Fame for 2016. They were introduced on stage by Kendrick Lamar back in April.
