Watch Key & Peele’s “Farewell Address” As President Obama And Luther, His Anger Translator
Keegan-Michael Key brought the sketch to The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
Since the election of Donald Trump, much of America has hoped that President Barack Obama would candidly address the fear and yes, anger, a lot of the country's citizens feel over Trump's victory. The famously pragmatic and measured Obama is unlikely to give such a speech, but that's why we have comedy duo Key & Peele, who played the much-loved characters of Obama and his anger translator Luther on their now-ended sketch TV show. During an appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Keegan-Michael Key of Key & Peele brought what he calls the "the final Obama/Luther sketch," styled as the "president's" farewell address.
During a brief interview, Key revealed that a former executive producer on the Key & Peele sketch show wrote the new sketch "for his own catharsis," and asked the duo if they wanted to film it, which they were happy to do. It's likely the real Obama is pleased as well, since he invited Key to play Luther at the 2015 White House Press Correspondent's Dinner.
If you live in America, watch the sketch above. Canadians can watch it over at The Comedy Network.
President Barack Obama's farewell address takes place on January 10, 2017 in Chicago.
