Mariah Carey's ongoing back-and-forth with the producers of Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve has continued with the release of an official statement in which she claims she was "foiled" by the show's production company. Carey's performance, which saw her encounter a lip-sync disaster, was broadcast on New Year's Eve and the fallout has continued into January.
Released via Twitter on January 8, Carey's audio statement includes her saying, “It’s a shame that we were put into the hands of a production team with technical issues who chose to capitalize on circumstances beyond our control."
She continues: “Listen guys: they foiled me. Thus, it turned into an opportunity to humiliate me and all those who were excited to ring in the New Year with me.” Carey ended by stating that she is also taking a break “from media moments, social-media moments.”
Carey previously spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the incident, while her management company said she was "set up to fail" by Dick Clark Productions.
