Joseph Fiennes will play Michael Jackson in the dream-like new TV movie Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon. The one-off show is part of Urban Myths, an upcoming anthology series which will air on Sky Arts in the U.K. from January 19.
The Jackson episode is based on a 2011 Vanity Fair article which alleged that the King of Pop took a road trip with Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando following the September 11 attacks in 2001.
Fiennes addressed the issue of him being cast as Jackson in a 2016 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “The decision with the casting and the producers — I wrangled with it," he said at the time. "I was confused and shocked at what might come my way and I knew the sensitivity, especially to Michael’s fans and to Michael’s family. It doesn’t negate who he was.”
Stockard Channing will play Elizabeth Taylor while Brian Cox is Brando. You can see a trailer for the whole series above.
