LGBTQ Activists Are Throwing A Dance Party Outside Mike Pence’s House Tomorrow
The celebration will protest “Daddy Pence” and his history of supporting of anti-LGBTQ legislation.
Werk for Peace, a "queer-based" grassroots organization formed in the wake of the Pulse nightclub tragedy in Orlando, is planning a pre-inauguration dance party, set to take place outside Vice President-elect Mike Pence's Washington, D.C. home on Wednesday night.
The party is intended as a protest of Pence's record on civil rights and particularly, his support of numerous anti-LGBTQ policies. The celebration will take place outside his temporary home in D.C.'s Chevy Chase neighborhood, where neighbors have been already flying rainbow pride flags as a Pence protest.
Details are available via a Facebook page for the event, where Werk For Peace also offered a brief statement of purpose for the protest:
"We plan on leaving behind [biodegradable] glitter and rainbow paraphernalia that he can NEVER forget," the statement reads. "Get ready to WERK it and tell Daddy Pence homo/transphobia is not tolerated in our country!"
