Myles Manley Dances Triumphantly In The “Relax; Enjoy Your Night Upon The Town” Video
The Irish folk-pop artist’s new single is out now.
These days, enjoying a night off can feel futile, even unethical (it's not, though). Last Friday night, instead of engaging with my friends I was locked into Twitter, like a plant that photosynthesizes bad news. If you could have plugged an aux cord into my brain, Myles Manley's "Relax; Enjoy Your Night Upon The Town" would have been on my internal playlist. In the video, premiering today on The FADER, the Irish singer/songwriter pulls his own "Praise You"-style dance moves across a city, his jerky movements embodying the anxiety of his folk-pop single: "“They’re coming after me and then they’re coming after you,” he sings.
“It's a song that remembers feeling like an outsider in a small town," Miles told The FADER over email, "the town that you're now running around, with your only doomed friend, on a Tuesday night in July. You've loved the insular world you share in opposition to a bunch of troglodytes, but now you get to mix with them and a new fascination is getting the better of you. Maybe it's you that's the scum and you could solve it all this evening if you could only relax. Is it the love of a new world or the end of the old?”
You can buy the single over at Myles Manley's Bandcamp page.
