Chance The Rapper Meeting With Illinois Governor To “Address Funding Education In Chicago”
“I’m eager to hear his ideas,” Chance wrote on Twitter.
Chance the Rapper announced that he will be meeting with Illinois governor Bruce Rauner on Wednesday to discuss "funding education in Chicago," he wrote on Twitter. Earlier this month, Rauner took to Twitter to congratulate the Chicago rapper on his Grammy wins, and Chance replied, “Thank you Governor, I would love to have meeting with you this week if possible.” Rauner's office confirmed the meeting to Chicago Tribune and Pitchfork, adding that “the governor will meet with Chance this week to discuss important issues affecting the state.”
After a free concert on November 7, Chance led thousands of Chicago residents to the polls to cast their votes. He recently responded to Donald Trump's tweet about Chicago, in which the president threatened to “send in the Feds” to stop violence in the city. "I hope he’s coming in to do some type of federal overturn of our state and city budgets in terms of schooling and housing,” he said. “It sounds like he was announcin’ he was going to war with Chicago.”
