Michelle Obama Tweeted Support Of Chance The Rapper’s Donation To Chicago Public Schools
The former first lady called the rapper “an example of the power of arts education.”
Former first lady Michelle Obama took to Twitter today to show her support of Chance the Rapper, who announced today that he would be donating $1 million to Chicago Public Schools. In her tweet, Obama, who is also a Chicago native, thanked Chance for giving back to the community and referred to him as "an example of the power of arts education."
At Chicago's Westcott Elementary School, the rapper said that his meeting with Illinois governor Chris Rauner left him "frustrated and disappointed with the governor's inaction," and that through ticket sales, support from AEG, Live Nation, and independent venues, he was able to raise the funds for the donation.
