Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma are in the midst of the most high-profile rap beef in recent memory, but, in the Bay Area, two up-and-coming rappers are fighting over something more concrete: their names.
Lil Kayla (of San Francisco) and Lil Kayla (of Oakland) are currently engaged in a feud over who has the rightful claim to the name. But, according to San Francisco's Lil Kayla, who's known as "The Real Lil Kayla" on her social media handles, the beef really started when she turned down an offer to do a song with Oakland's Lil Kayla, who also calls herself "Underground Celebrity" or UC for short.
The beef escalated when UC Lil Kayla dropped "Mini Me," a diss track rapped over Tee Grizzley's "First Day Out" instrumental in which she accused the other Lil Kayla of stealing her name.
Less than 24 hours later, "The Real" Lil Kayla responded with "Big Me."
The beef became a trending topic on Bay Area Twitter, as listeners rushed to crown a queen.
