Promise Keeper’s “Endless Motion” Is Sad-Pop Perfection
William Fussell’s new solo project will soon tour Europe.
As Promise Keeper, William Fussell crafts vaporous pop music like "Endless Motion," premiering today on The FADER. The influence of Sade is clear, but like the soft-pop matriarch, "Endless Motion" refuses to be simple downtempo background noise, thanks to a focus on inner tumult: "Don't let the same thing twice/ Keep you up all night/ It's not the same as everlasting love," Fussell sings, before a saxophone casts a doleful melody.
Over email, Fussell, who works out of London via Atlanta, said that "Endless Motion" is his "juxtaposition of mathematics and sexuality." The song will appear on Promise Keeper's self-titled "mini-LP," out on cassette via Atelier Ciseaux on May 16. Preorder it here. If you live in Europe, he'll be taking the album on the road for some shows. Check out those dates below.
