Brooklyn Steel, a new venue in Brooklyn's East Williamsburg neighborhood, announced on Tuesday that LCD Soundsystem will perform the venue's inaugural show. In fact, the band will play five shows next week, starting on Thursday April 6, and continuing on April 7, April 8, April 10, and April 11.
Tickets for the concerts go on sale Thursday March 30 at 12 p.m.
Brooklyn Steel is a Bowery Presents venue, so it joins a family that includes Terminal 5 and Music Hall of Williamsburg. It will also be the largest general admission venue in Brooklyn, with a capacity of around 1,800.
In a press release, Bowery Presents partners John Moore and Jim Glancy promise, "With every venue we open, we aim to create a space where both fans and bands can fully enjoy the experience; from easy access to bars and restrooms, to unobstructed sightlines and state-of-the-art sound and acoustics, we’re confident that Brooklyn Steel delivers on our commitment to keep the music first.”
In January, LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy promised that the band's fourth album would be done soon. The band reunited last year after disbanding in 2011. This new album would be their first in seven years.
