“Mass Chaos” Reported From Ticket Holders At Luxury Fyre Festival

Update: The festival has been “fully postponed,” according to organizers.

April 28, 2017

Fyre Festival is a luxury music festival created Ja Rule and entrepreneur Billy McFarland taking place this weekend, April 28-30, in the Bahamas. Attendees of the festival on Great Exuma have complained of delayed flights, lost luggage, a lack of food, and sub-standard living conditions as the luxury event descends into "mass chaos." Blink-182, due to headline the festival on Friday, pulled out on Thursday night. Those not already on the island have had their flights canceled and tickets refunded.

The event was announced with a glamorous Instagram video featuring models Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski sailing on a yacht. Tickets for the event ranged from $4000, to a VIP package costing $250,000 split between 12 people. For those fees, customers were promised private beaches, luxury accommodation, and live music from artists including Rae Sremmurd, Skepta, and G.O.O.D. Music acts Desiigner, Tyga, and Pusha T.

However, people at the festival have taken to Twitter and Reddit to document the reality of the situation. Messages include talk of a "complete disaster" and comparisons to Lord of The Flies.

The festival issued a statement in the early hours of April 28 in which they promise to "deliver a great experience" for those on the island. However, "in line with a culture of safety," all remaining charter flights out have been canceled and ticket holders refunded.

The FADER reached out to representatives for Fyre Festival for more information. Check out the reports from Twitter below.
