Hackers Leak Season Five Of Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black
They’re threatening to leak more shows from ABC, FOX, IFC, and National Geographic.
A hacker group going by the name 'The Dark Overlord' has leaked episodes 1-10 from the fifth season of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black.
On Friday, The Dark Overlord took to Twitter and claimed that they had stolen the upcoming fifth season the show and would release it unless the streaming company paid them an unspecified ransom, Vanity Fair reports. Since then, the hacker group has updated their message and gone ahead and leaked episodes 1-10 of the season due to Netflix being "unresponsive." They note that the season includes 13 episodes, and claim that they had acquired the copies so early episodes 11-13 weren't even uploaded yet. The new season is scheduled to be officially released on June 9.
Though Netflix has yet to confirm the validity of the leaked episodes, the company acknowledged that a small vendor site affiliated with their company had been breached, and said the situation was an FBI "active investigation," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
According to the hacker's new note, they allegedly plan to target other large TV networks, calling out ABC, FOX, IFC, and National Geographic.
