UN Ambassador Nikki Haley Said That President Trump Believes The Climate Is Changing
Though it doesn’t seem to be changing anything.
In an interview that will air Sunday June 4 on CNN's State Of The Union, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations told host Jake Tapper that President Trump does in fact believe that climate is changing.
Tapper remained relatively incredulous through much of the interview clip with Haley, who at one point said that the Paris Climate Accord goals set for the United States were unattainable.
"But... But the standards that were set for the United States were set by the United States, just to be clear," Tapper replied, visibly stifling his own laughter, and further clarifying that the goals were set by former President Barack Obama, not other countries.
Tapper followed with a question, inquiring about a tweet from the President regarding climate change and the Chinese government tweeted before the President took office, about climate change being a hoax.
"Are you willing to acknowledge that calling climate change a Chinese hoax is just a big box of crazy?" asked Tapper.
"President Trump believes the climate is changing and he believes pollutants are part of the equation," Haley responded.
Ambassador Haley's comments are the closest the Trump administration has come to acknowledging human impact on climate change.
