During an interview with Genius, Terius "The-Dream" Nash discussed "Shut It Down," his collaboration with Drake that appeared on the rapper's debut album Thank Me Later.
"Shout out to Drake and what he's done with his career," he said, before describing the constant phone calls he got from Drake's team while he was on tour. Eventually, the two artists got together and collaborated. "Drake called and said 'Yo, this is how I want this to sound,'" Nash says. "I said 'Drake, I'm going to do this record how I'm going to do it."
Dream also explained why the two of them haven't collaborated on another song since. "When the next album came along, I asked him to get on a record, and he never got on the record. Now, I’m only gonna ask you once. Especially if I’ve already done something for you."
The pair sound unlikely to work together again in the future. "[T]hat’s the end of the Drake and Dream era of a record,” Dream said near the end of his answer.
