Kesha Will Release Her New Single “Praying” Tomorrow
“Your support and love and kindness has gotten me through, hands down, the hardest time of my entire life,” the singer said in a video announcing the song.
Kesha has announced that she will be releasing a new single entitled "Praying" on Thursday, July 6. The singer took to social media to tell fans about the upcoming track with a video. "Your support and love and kindness has gotten me through, hands down, the hardest time of my entire life," she said in the video. "My new song "Praying" is coming out tomorrow and I couldn't have done this without you."
Since 2014, Kesha has been fighting a legal battle against producer Lukasz Gottwald a.k.a. Dr. Luke, who she's accusing of sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse when they worked together. Most recently, Dr. Luke dropped a lawsuit against Kesha's mom, Pebe Sebert. "Praying" will be Kesha's first release since 2016's "True Colors" with Zedd. Before that, her last material had been released in 2013 before the lawsuit.
In February 2016, Kesha's lawyer said that the artist had submitted new music to Kemosabe Records, the label run by Dr. Luke until his contract expired in March 2017, in the hopes of getting out of her contract. "Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label,” her lawyer Daniel Petrocelli said at the time. “We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release the single and an album as soon as possible.”
A representative for Sony Music was not immediately available for comment.
