Katy Perry has been announced as the host of the 2017 MTV VMAs, which will take place on August 27. Perry is nominated for five awards — including Best Pop, Best Direction and Best Visual Effects — and will also be performing at the ceremony.
“I’ve been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson,” Katy Perry said in a press release. “Come August 27th, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids.”
MTV announced the full list of nominees for the VMAs on Tuesday with a series of announcments on Instagram Stories. Kendrick Lamar is the most-nominated artist of the year with eight nods, while Perry and The Weeknd are each up for five awards.
