13 Songs You Need In Your Life This Week
Tracks we love right now. In no particular order.
Each week The FADER staff rounds up the songs we can't stop playing. Here they are, in no particular order.
1. Kesha's Rainbow is an eclectic country-pop album that includes a duet with Dolly Parton. Our favorite right now is “Hunt You Down,” a June Carter Cash-channeling ditty that highlights the best of what Kesha's voice can do.
2. On “Hurtin’ Me," Stefflon Don is "in the place bawlin'" because her lover left her for another woman. Featuring French Montana, the track is sad, but in a warm and groovy way.
3. "My mom be Google searching me like everyday," raps Rejjie Snow over a sunny beat on “Virgo,” a heartwarming ode to dreaming big, featuring vocals from New Orleans' Pell.
4. Moses Sumney's new one, the 6-minute “Quarrel,” is downright spiritual. This man has the voice of an actual angel.
5. Alice Glass has returned with the tingle-inducing “Without Love.” The video is all wild reds and pinks, and the song serves Evanescence vibes.
6. PeeWee Longway's flow is inimitable, proven by his new loosie, “Rerocc,” a fast-paced late-night jam.
7. “Hood,” our most-spun from Hoodrich Pablo Juan's SOUTH DARK EP, is a breathless tribute to cash, edibles, and "drinking lean like it come out a fountain."
8. Over “Mad”'s comforting acoustic guitar strums, Pi’erre Bourne can't figure out why everyone is hating on him. We're for sure not mad, though.
9. Teklife's DJ Chap fucks it all up with “What I Want,” a glitchy, pitched-up track to turn your bedroom into a club for one.
10. “Details,” from U.K. R&B singer Taliwhoah, is hot — like the way getting to know the body of someone you're really into is hot. It urges you to pay close attention to the bruises and scars that make a person unique.
11. Numero Group is reissuing the singles of 1970s trans soul singer Jackie Shane, starting with “Any Other Way,” a trumpet-adorned, Motown-style breakup song.
12. Toronto band Twist wrestle, tongues firmly in cheeks, with the idea of financial stability on “Benefits.” It's a super catchy track with generous fuzz and a killer hook.
13. Makthaverskan, a dream-pop crew from Gothenburg, returned this week with "In My Dreams," a sky-scraping love song that wails and undulates with passion.
