Last month, Laverne Cox announced an upcoming collaboration with Beyoncé. Ivy Park has revealed Cox as the star of the brand's AW17 campaign which celebrates “the beauty and strength found in our uniqueness" and "tapping into your inner hero."
“To be honest, it doesn’t feel real,” Cox told PeopleStyle. “It feels like some weird fantasy that I’ve had since Destiny’s Child. It feels amazing that I get to be a part of this brand that has already inspired me and be working with a woman who has especially been a huge inspiration to me and so many folks around the world.”
Clips of Cox modeling for the campaign were recently uploaded on the official Ivy Park website. Karen McDonald, Souffrant Ralph, and Grace Bol are also featured in the campaign. An image of Cox decked out in the athleisure attire is also posted on the brand's Instagram page with the following quote as a caption: "It's about being free. Listening and moving without any judgement or limitation."
Although Cox didn't have the opportunity to meet Beyoncé during the shoot (she was about to give birth to the twins), she still had nothing but praise for Queen Bey. “Beyoncé is someone who has pushed herself beyond what even she thought she could do,” said Cox. “It’s a sense of becoming a superwoman, and really pushing yourself beyond all measure.”
