Björk and Andrew Tomas Huang recently sat down with NOWNESS to talk about the creative process behind the music video for her latest single "The Gate." Toward the end of the Facebook Live discussion with Jefferson Hack, the Icelandic singer revealed that she's settled on Utopia as the title of her forthcoming album.
“I have had a thousand name suggestions, and I think it’s going to be called 'Utopia,'” she said. “I can’t think of anything better.”
In a previous interview with DAZED, Björk touched on the origins of the album's "utopian theme" and how it was inspired by the many political upheavals around the world in 2016. “Maybe that’s why it became a utopian theme," she said. "If we’re gonna survive not only my personal drama but also the sort of situation the world is in today, we’ve got to come up with a new plan.
So far, few details have been released about the album which is co-produced by Arca. Stereogum reports that it's expected to drop sometime in November though. The official visual for "The Gate" will be unveiled on September 18.
