Pharrell Took A Knee On Stage In Charlottesville
“If I want to get on my knees right now for the people of my city, for the people of my state, that’s what this flag is for.”
Pharrell Williams joined a weekend of protest by taking a knee during a concert in Charlottesville on Sunday. The concert was held in the wake of events in August which saw one person killed following a rally by far-right protestors.
Near the end of his set Pharrell offered a direct protest of police brutality and institutionalized racism. Williams said, "If I want to get on my knees right now for the people of my city, for the people of my state, that's what this flag is for."
Musicians including J. Cole and Stevie Wonder showed solidarity with the NFL players criticized by Trump this past weekend. Catch-up on everyone who kneeled during the anthem on Sunday here.
