According to Billboard, The Killers' newly released album Wonderful Wonderful has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Even though the Las Vegas band has been active for the past 15 years, this marks the first time that one of their records has gone No. 1.
Nielsen Music reports that Wonderful Wonderful sold 118,000 equivalent units in the week ending on September 28. Apparently, 111,000 of those units were from traditional album sales. The Killers' last album Battle Born reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Prior to that, Sam's Town hit No. 2 and their debut album Hot Fuss peaked at No. 7 in 2005.
Similarly, Brand New also made Billboard chart history when they earned their first No. 1 album with Science Fiction in August. The Killers' fifth studio album Wonderful Wonderful is out now via Island Records.
