Hiroki Yamamura’s “Frosty Cake” is a whole meal of Japanese juke
Listen to a banging yet breezy new track from the producer’s upcoming Moveltraxx 12”.
Hiroki Yamamura is a Japanese producer bringing a unique sense of joy – and a generous amount of chip influences – to his footwork, ghetto house, and juke-inspired productions. When I first heard his new song "Frosty Cake," premiering below on The FADER, my right shoulder was sent into a shimmy by the song's shimmering and spliced R&B melodies and loping percussive grooves. Combined with its intense pace is an immensely soothing factor that, within the frames of footwork, feels like a runner's high. "I made 'Frosty Cake' with childhood memories in mind," Hiroki told The FADER over email, describing the images his song brought to mind. "Snow in the town, children frolicking in the snow and me wanting to buy a delicious cake. "
