This summer Oasis will reunite for their first tour since Liam and Noel Gallagher went their separate ways in 2009. Tickets for the tour, which will begin in their native U.K. before hitting Asia, Europe, and North and South America, sold out almost immediately. And across the dates, a film crew will be documenting the action for a newly announced movie.
The Oasis Live ‘25 tour will be the subject of an intriguing sounding film created and produced by Steven Knight. That name may be familiar if you have watched Peaky Blinders, the British period crime drama created by Knight and starring Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, a gangleader in post-war Birmingham, England. Knight has also written TV series and movies including the Oscar-nominated Maria and this year's A Thousand Blows.
Since Knight is not a documentary filmmaker, it could well be that the as-yet-untitled Oasis movie has a scripted element that runs alongside the live footage. Those wanting a more traditional tour doc will be reassured by the involvement of directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, whose credits include the LCD Soundsystem concert film Shut Up And Play The Hits and Meet Me In The Bathroom, which covered the early '00s indie rock scene in New York City.
No release date has yet been set for the Oasis film nor any specific details regarding the content of the film, which will presumably be in theaters long after the tour finishes in November (barring any Gallagher fist fights).
