Twitter responds to Lena Dunham’s defense of a man accused of sexual assault
Following a statement published in The Hollywood Reporter, many took to Twitter to discuss her response to allegations made against Murrary.
Aurora Perrineau, an actress, accused Murray Miller, a producer and writer, of rape. According to Perrineau, the crime took place in 2012, when she was only 17 and Miller was 35. Miller worked on Girls with Lena Dunham, who sent a statement with Girls showrunner Jenni Konner to The Hollywood Reporter defending Miller. Konner and Dunham alleged that Perrineau's allegations against Miller were completely false.
Many on Twitter were quick to point out that Dunham coming to the defense of an accused predator stands in clear contrast to her previous statements supporting those coming forward to report their abusers. You can read Dunham's THR statement here and the responses to her statement below.
