Bryan Singer has been fired from Bohemian Rhapsody
Production on the film was halted three days ago.
Bryan Singer has been fired from Bohemian Rhapsody, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The decision comes three days after production on the Freddie Mercury biopic was halted due to a "health matter" of Singer's.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the director's exit is partially due to his own "unprofessionalism," including long and unexplained absences from set, and disputes with actor Rami Malek, who plays Freddie Mercury. In a statement released Monday night, Singer denied these reports.
“Rumors that my unexpected departure from the film was sparked by a dispute I had with Rami Malek are not true," said Singer. "While, at times, we did have creative differences on set, Rami and I successfully put those differences behind us and continued to work on the film together until just prior to Thanksgiving."
Principal photography on the film, which has been in the works for 12 years, will finish over the next two weeks. A new director is expected to be announced shortly.
