After XXXTentacion was charged with seven new felonies related to witness tampering and harassment on Friday, the rapper was given eight new charges on Monday, according to a new report in TMZ. The "Look At Me!" rapper now faces a total of 15 felonies related to witness tampering and harassment.
In documents reportedly obtained by TMZ, prosecutors allege that the witness tampering took place in October 2016, when XXXTentacion was still in prison on charges of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend. TMZ's sources claim that XXXTentacion committed the tampering on phone calls from prison, which were recorded, and will be presented as evidence.
XXXTentacion also faces charges of aggravated battery of a pregnant woman, domestic battery by strangulation, and false imprisonment. Two weeks ago, XXXTentacion's legal team submitted a document, which they claimed was signed by the woman he is accused of assaulting, stating that she no longer wanted the trial to go forward. Prosecutors say the rapper coerced her into signing the document.
The rapper was taken into custody in Miami-Dade county, after prosecutors filed a pretrial detention motion on Friday, documents from the Miami-Dade County Court confirm.
On Wednesday, XXXTentacion submitted a not guilty plea for the charges connected with the 2016 domestic violence incident. He faces multiple decades in prison if convicted. His next scheduled court appearance is a hearing on January 24, 2018.
