Serena Williams is back on the court after a busy year away. She gave birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia and married her partner Alexis Ohanian. The last time Serena was on the court was when she won her 23rd Grand Slam last January. She was nine weeks pregnant when she defeated her sister Venus Williams for the title.
She didn't win her first match back. She lost during a tiebreak against French player Jelena Ostapenko. She told reporters at the court that she was very happy to be back on the tennis courts, and that she has loved motherhood so far. ESPN notes that if Williams plays in the upcoming Australian Open she could tie with Margaret Court for the most Grand Slam titles.
