Watch Halsey deliver her powerful Women’s March poem “A Story Like Mine”
“This is the beginning, it is not the finale.”
Halsey was among the thousands of women who marched on Saturday, January 20. She appeared in New York where she delivered a personal poem detailing her experiences of sexual abuse and Planned Parenthood.
In her "A Story Like Mine" poem Halsey recalled being abused as a child in 2002, an assault by a boyfriend a decade later, and an incident with “a man that I trust” in 2017.
"This is the beginning, it is not the finale," Halsey said at one point. "Ask her story and then shut up and listen. Black, Asian, poor, wealthy, trans, cis, Muslim, Christian. Listen, listen and then yell at the top of your lungs. Be a voice for all those who have prisoner tongues... Lord knows, there's a war to be won."
